Our installation process

1. Schedule a free estimate.

Call us or request an appointment online for a free estimate on the cost to install ductwork in your home. We'll work with you to schedule your free estimate on a day and time that works best for you.

2. Get ductwork options based on your budget and HVAC system.

After our duct specialist arrives at the appointed time, he'll start inspecting your home and HVAC system to determine possible ductwork options. Then, he will present you with each option and help you find the best solution for your budget.

When you work with Burgeson's, you can count on our service pros to provide upfront prices and honest recommendations—with no strings attached.

3. Go about your day while we install your ductwork.

On the day of a new installation, our crew typically arrives around 8:30–9:30 am and usually needs at least one day to complete the installation. Depending on the scope of the project and the construction of your home, the job may go more quickly or take longer.

Need to leave before we arrive? No problem. Just provide a Burgeson's representative with instructions on how to enter your home and we'll get started.

We do our best to keep disruptions to a minimum, though you will likely hear some noise as we install the ductwork (unfortunately this is unavoidable). However, our duct installers always wear shoe covers, place drop cloths and vacuum when they're done to ensure your home is clean once the job is complete.

Signs you need new ductwork

If you notice the following signs, it may be time to replace your ducts.

  1. Higher-than-normal energy bills. If you've noticed steadily rising energy bills but haven't changed how you set the thermostat, leaky or disconnected ducts could be causing your HVAC to work extra hard to heat or cool your home. The ducts will need to be repaired or replaced to fix the issue.

  2. Frequent hot/cold spots throughout the house. If it seems like your home is never at a comfortable temperature, then incorrectly installed or leaky ductwork could be the culprit.

  3. Lots of dust coming out of the vents. Ducts are often located in dusty places (such as an attic). If the ducts have significant leaks or holes, dust from the unconditioned space can enter the ducts and get blown into your home. If the leaks are widespread, it's usually best to replace your ducts.

  4. Your home is 25+ years old. As ducts age, they are more prone to develop leaks or become disconnected. If your home is over 25 years old, you should have an HVAC professional inspect your ducts to see if they need to be replaced.

Cost of ductwork installation:

In Redlands and the Inland Empire area, the price to install ductwork for a single system ranges from $2,000 to $7,500+.

Factors that will affect the cost of your ductwork installation include:

  1. Replacing vs installing ducts: Replacing an existing duct system is generally less expensive than installing new ductwork in a home that has never had it. In a home with an existing HVAC system the air supply vents, return air grilles, and connections to HVAC equipment have been previously cut and installed leaving simply the ductwork to be replaced (and registers upgraded). When an HVAC system is being installed in an existing home for the first time, the team must cut into walls, ceilings &/or floors to add supply and return vents as well as install many other key components to make the duct system flow correctly.

  2. The type of duct material used. Flexible, non-metallic or aluminum duct typically has a lower cost per foot compared to sheet metal or rigid duct. We'll go into more detail about the different types of duct material in the section below.

  3. The number of stories and the size of your home. Bigger, multi-story homes require more ductwork, which increases the material and labor costs needed to install the new ducts.

  4. The number of temperature control zones. A "zoned" HVAC system allows you to have customized temperature zones throughout your home. To achieve this, an HVAC professional will need to install special dampers (used to control airflow) in the ductwork, which raises the overall cost of the installation.

Types of duct material

As we mentioned above, the type of duct material needed for your home will affect the overall cost of the installation. We'll share the most common types of ductwork to give you a better idea of what duct materials are available.

  • Flexible non-metallic or aluminum ducts: These ducts are used in tight spaces because they are flexible and lightweight. They are more fragile, however, they typically come pre-insulated, which reduces heat loss and noise.

  • Sheet metal ducts: Sheet metal ducts are strong and durable, but they are also rigid, which means they are best used in straight lines.

HERE'S WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY

Superbly skilled company in all areas! Deegan, Noah & Cody replaced my entire HVAC system, including new ductwork in the attic. Just like the plumbing side of the business, the HVAC workmanship is superlative and their manners impeccable. They were on time, worked tirelessly, and cleaned up each area of work. I wish I had known earlier they also did electrical, because I definitely would have hired them to do all my electrical modifications as well, which was already done by someone else. I will hire them for anything I need in the future and recommend them without reservation. If you want the best work, hire the best: Burgeson’s.
