How it works

1. Schedule a free estimate.

Call us or request an appointment online for a free mini-split installation estimate. We'll work with you to schedule your free estimate on a day and time that works best for you.

2. Get options based on your budget.

A Design Specialist will inspect your home and chat with you about your heating and cooling needs. Then, they'll present various mini-split options that match your budget.

Because most of our Design Specialists started as installers or service techs, they're extremely knowledgeable. They will help you choose the right mini-split system for your home and they'll answer any questions you may have about the new system.

3. Go about your day while we install your mini-split system.

On the day of the installation, our installation crew typically arrives around 8:30–9:30 am and usually needs at least 4 hours to complete the job. Some mini-split installations may take 1–2 days to complete.

Need to leave before we arrive? No problem. Just provide a Burgeson's representative with instructions on how to enter your home and we'll get started.

Our installers always wear shoe covers, place drop cloths, and vacuum when they're done. Plus, every Burgeson's installation is carefully inspected by one of our Installation Supervisors to ensure the highest quality work.

Mini-Split vs Central HVAC

Many homeowners ask us when they should choose a mini-split system over a central HVAC system.

A mini-split may be the better choice if...

  • You only need to cool one room or a detached space. Instead of installing a complete central HVAC system, it may be more practical to install a single mini-split in the room or space you want to cool.
  • Your home doesn't have ductwork. Installing ductwork can be expensive. If you don't already have ducts, you may be better off with a mini-split system since it usually does not require any ductwork to operate.
  • You have limited access for ductwork. If your home does not have the physical space to support a furnace indoors, a condenser outdoors, and/or any attic or basement space for ductwork, you may want to consider a ductless system.

Cost of a mini-split system installation:

In Redlands and the Inland Empire area, the price to install a mini-split system ranges from $4,500 to $8,500+   for a single system or from $8,000 to $25,000+   for multi-zone applications depending on the number of zones requested.

Factors that will affect the cost of your mini-split installation include:

  1. The number of rooms you want to cool. The number of rooms you want to cool will determine the number of mini-split units you need. The more units you need, the higher the overall cost of the installation.
  2. The efficiency rating of the units. The efficiency of a ductless system is measured by SEER, which stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The higher the SEER, the more energy-efficient the unit will be. That said, higher SEER systems also come with a higher price tag. Most mini-splits range from 16 to 25 SEER.
  3. Installation considerations. Depending on your home and the scope of the project, the installation may take longer or require more materials, which increases cost. For example, if your install team needs to make extensive electrical modifications to accommodate the mini-split system, the overall cost of the project will be greater.

Want accurate pricing for your specific installation? Schedule an appointment to have us inspect your home and chat with you about your cooling needs. We'll take into account all of the factors above and provide you with a custom quote for the project.

The Components of a Mini-Split System

A mini-split system consists of 3 main components:

  1. An indoor unit: Just like standard HVAC or heat pump systems, mini-split systems have an outdoor unit and an indoor air-handling unit. The indoor air-handling unit can be suspended from a ceiling, mounted flush into a drop ceiling, or hung on a wall. Floor-standing models are also available for homes with limited wall or ceiling space. The indoor unit is controlled via a thermostat or a remote.
  2. An outdoor unit: The outdoor unit is installed on a small concrete pad outside of the home. It can be installed up to 50 feet from the indoor unit. As many as 8 indoor units can connect to a single outdoor unit (depending on the model).
  3. A conduit: The conduit houses power cables and refrigerant tubing, and it links the indoor and outdoor units. The conduit passes through a small hole (3 inches wide) near the indoor unit.

HERE'S WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY

I had 4 Mini-Splits installed last year and I am SO happy with them... It’s the best money I have spent in a long time, even better than buying jewelry! Good job Burgeson’s!
