Burgeson's Receives SCE Contractor of the Year Award

By Your Advisor 4/18/16 9:00 AM Time to read:

For the second time since the inception of the program, Burgeson's Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. is proud to receive the Quality Contractor of the Year Award for 2015 courtesy of Southern California Edison (SCE). SCE presents the award to contractors that perform the most quality installations which comply with their Energy Star Quality Installation Program. The program ensures that air conditioning systems are properly installed using only NATE-certified contractors. SCE also offers a variety of rebates so homeowners receive a cost-effective, energy-saving installation.

Energy Rebates

SCE partnered with selected HVAC contractors in California to make it easier for utility customers to implement energy-saving improvements. The Quality Installation program includes rebates on the following:

  • Split System AC System 15 SEER or greater (up to $750)
  • Split System Heat Pump 15 SEER or greater (up to $750)
  • Package units AC System 15 SEER or greater (up to $750)
  • Package units Heat Pump 15 SEER or greater (up to $750)

Program Requirements

SCE pre-screens contractors before they make it on their referral contractor list. In order to be considered for the referral list, a business must have half of their technicians NATE-certified, participate in the Quality Installation program's training, and allow for SCE to perform an open inspection on their work. Inspection involves assessing equipment selection and installation. The strict program requirements were developed by a collection of expert contractors, original equipment manufacturers, industry experts, and utility and industry associations. The Quality Installation program includes an assessment on the following:

  • Building heat gain/loss load calculations and equipment capacity selection
  • Airflow, refrigerant charge and electrical requirements
  • Duct leakage and air balance
  • Proper system documentation

The program's verification process ensures that all air conditioning systems are properly designed to avoid oversizing. Oversizing of an air conditioning unit can lead to short cycling and a shortened life expectancy. This holistic approach works to verify that SCE-approved contractors, like Burgeson's, are consistently providing utility customers with energy-saving upgrades that will last.

Customer-Centric

The Quality Installation program has incentivized customers to make improvements they otherwise would not have made. The SCE referral program consistently sends interested customers to Burgeson's when requesting estimates for HVAC replacement. The scrutiny and the strict verification process regarding air conditioning installations allows peace of mind for Burgeson's customers. More than anything, the program ensures that contractors use sound industry practices when designing and installing an air conditioning system.

Only a select few contractors are skilled enough to meet all of SCE's stringent program requirements. Burgeson's is proud to be one of those select few, and elated at being recognized as the number one contractor within that group. This award symbolizes the Burgeson's Heating and Air Conditioning commitment to our customers and to the quality of our work which allows us to get the job done right the first time.
